and the living is easy. Here are some pictures and videos from July.

They love to go harvest the garden with Daddy.

Our favorite summer treats.

Drew loves to try on shoes....

Ever since they stopped nursing, they like to rock before bed.

They love to sit in big chairs.

Drew and Ellie are 14 months old today. It is also James and my 3rd anniversary! We celebrated by leaving our kids for the weekend and heading to Lake of the Ozarks for three days. It was sooooo relaxing, and it’s amazing how you learn to appreciate the little things after having kids, like an uninteruppted cup of coffee or time to just sit on the balcony reading and staring. It is also much more fun to come home from a trip when you know you have two little people waiting for you. We missed them a lot, but are still looking forward to our next trip away!
It’s a been a while since I’ve listed some of Drew and Ellie’s developmental highlights, so here goes:
Drew:
-His walking is becoming more steady. He can go up and down stairs slowly and even climbs straight up slides at the park.
-He loves the pool and the tub- tries to stick his face in the water and blow bubbles and loves the big slide at the pool (most of the time).
-He is learning new words all the time- some of his favorites are bubbles, pup pup, mama, “Go!”, ball, nana
-He is working hard to use a fork and spoon and just learning the joys of ketchup.
- He makes “vroom vroom” engine noises when he sees big trucks outside or in books. He also loves to throw and chase a ball around by himself- he’s such a boy!
-He got his first hair cut a couple weeks ago. He sat so still on my lap, turning only to check out the clippers she was using. He is such a big boy now!

Ellie:
-She loves to dance and starts bobbing her heading and spinning in circles when she hears music. She really loves the intro to Backyardigans and dances along with Pablo.
-She also loves to work on using her fork- sometimes she will spend a whole minute concentrating to put a piece of food on the fork with her hand and then eat it off the fork. This and their new love of real cups makes meals entertaining.
-She said “hi” and “mama” the other day for the first time. Most of the time she points and talks in her own little language. “Ashoo shoo shoo”
-She loves to read books and will bring them over to my lap to read and then reads them herself over and over.
- She is getting really good at stacking blocks and will sit and concentrate for a long time.
- She really understands things that we say to her- “go get your shoes” “where is your baby?” “let’s go brush our teeth!”
Here she is with her new hair do- the ponytail!
